I am Pola Drakopoulou, a technical, UX, and content writer based in Athens, Greece. I am a linguistics graduate who has transitioned into the role of a technical/UX writer. I have been working as a technical writer since 2021 and studying or exploring language and content writing for a living for about the last decade.
Career summary & Personal ProjectsAfter my graduation, I pursued an MSc in Cognitive Science with a focus on Natural Language Processing at the University of Edinburgh. In the following years, I worked as a Neurolinguistics/Psycholinguistics research assistant and as a Greek language tutor. I later focused on tutoring while also contributing to projects involving content management, storytelling, writing, and editing.

In 2016, I launched my food and wellness blog, The Eudemonia—a creative project that deepened my engagement with social media and website content. The blog features recipes, articles, and interviews with the people behind products and brands I love. If you have favorite recipes you’d like to share, feel free to contact me—I always appreciate good food!
Where I Am TodayCurrently, I work as a technical and UX writer for an IT company. As a content writer, I help brands and individuals discover their voice and create products that resonate with their audience through storytelling and content writing. As a linguistics graduate and language tutor turned technical writer, I am passionate about introducing more people to the field of technical writing, embracing technology and AI-driven challenges, and encouraging others to explore interdisciplinary educational and professional opportunities.
What Drives MeI firmly believe that everything we are and all of our choices craft a path unique to us, leading to opportunities where everything we’ve learned along the way becomes useful and ultimately shapes the perspective that makes our voice uniquely ours.
Getting to know me, but with visual aid
Being a technical writer is about more than just writing manuals and guides—it’s about solving problems, translating complex concepts into clear instructions, and constantly learning and adapting. Every day, I find myself juggling various tasks, from collaborating with engineers to refining content and ensuring it’s easy to understand. It’s a dynamic role that blends logic and creativity, which is what I love most about it.
Switching to creative projects that require content writing for brands and storytelling, or simply creating content for my blog and personal projects, is like turning on an engine that is hardwired to my inner child. I’ve come to realize that practicing both logic-oriented and creative-oriented skills is complementary, with each fueling the other—while also allowing me to learn new things and feed my curiosity.

To give you a visual sense of my workday, I asked ChatGPT to create an image that reflects what I do based on everything it knows about me. It’s a fun way to capture the essence of my work and passions, both technical and creative.
My Career Journey
My personal journey to becoming
a technical and content writer
Many people ask me how I transitioned into the role of a technical writer and how someone can become one. To answer this, I wrote this article (in Greek) about what technical writing is and what technical writers do.
Technical writers often come from diverse fields, such as:
- Communication
- Engineering
- Computer Science
- Literature or similar studies
- Journalism
My journey includes studies in Greek language and linguistics, a master’s degree focused on how humans understand and produce language and how this can be modeled through computational methods (MSc Cognitive Science), and work experience in research, education, and content creation.
My everyday life as a Technical Writer
Being a technical writer means balancing various tasks—collaborating with engineers, simplifying complex topics, or editing detailed documentation.
It’s a dynamic and rewarding role that combines creativity with precision. Inspired by Fabrizio Ferri-Benedetti’s LinkedIn post, this pie chart showcases the breakdown of my activities as a technical writer.
